Pizhichil (Taila Dhara / Sarvanga Taila Seka)
Pizhichil is a luxurious form of Sarvanga Snehana–Swedana (combined oleation and sudation), in which warm medicated oil is continuously poured over the entire body while performing gentle massage. It is highly effective in Vata vyadhi (neurological and degenerative disorders) and is considered a rejuvenative (Rasayana) therapy.
Sanskrit:
पिझिचिल् / स्नेहसेक (Sneha Seka)
Physiological Action (Kriya):
The heat (Ushna Guna) of the oil dilates peripheral blood vessels, improving circulation and promoting toxin elimination through sweat. The unctuous property (Snigdha Guna) lubricates joints, nourishes Mamsa and Asthi dhatus, and strengthens Snayu (ligaments) and Kandara (tendons).
Indications:
- Paralysis (Pakshaghata), facial palsy
- Rheumatoid arthritis (Amavata), osteoarthritis
- Muscular cramps and neurological disorders
- General weakness, fatigue
Benefits:
- Deeply rejuvenates and nourishes body tissues
- Improves muscle tone and nerve function
- Enhances blood circulation and immunity
- Promotes relaxation and sound sleep
