Vasti is the chief among Panchakarma therapies, known as Ardha Chikitsa (half of all treatments) due to its vast therapeutic scope. It involves the administration of medicated oil or decoction into the colon via the rectum, targeting Vata dosha disorders.

Physiological Action (Kriya):
The colon is the main seat of Vata dosha. By introducing herbal oils/decoctions, Vasti helps in Snehana, Shodhana, and Brimhana of body tissues. It influences the enteric nervous system and improves gut motility, absorption, and elimination.
