This procedure stabilizes Prāna Vāyu and Sadhaka Pitta located in the head, improving neurological and psychological balance.

Sanskrit: 

Thala means head — the therapy involves applying medicated paste over the vertex (Brahmarandhra).

Physiological Action (Kriya): 

A medicated paste of Shankhpushpi, Brahmi, Chandana, or Amalaki mixed with medicated oil is applied over the crown region for 20–40 minutes.
