Urinary Tract Infection (Mutrakrichra)

Mutrakrichra refers to painful and burning urination, caused by Pitta aggravation in the urinary system leading to inflammation of the bladder or urethra.

Symptoms:

  • Burning sensation while passing urine
  • Frequency and urgency
  • Pain in lower abdomen or back
  • Cloudy or foul-smelling urine

Ayurvedic Management:

  • Panchakarma:
    • Virechana – eliminates excess Pitta and toxins
    • Uttaravasti – medicated enema through urethral/vaginal route with soothing oils like Yashtimadhu Taila
  • Internal Medicines:
    • Chandraprabha Vati, Punarnavadi Kashaya, Gokshuradi Guggulu, Varunadi Kashaya
  • Diet:
    • Avoid spicy, sour, and fried foods
    • Include barley water, coconut water, and coriander decoction
