Ulcerative Colitis (Pittaja Atisara / Raktatisara)

A severe form of Atisara where inflammation of the colon causes bloody diarrhea, pain, and fatigue. Ayurveda describes this as Raktatisara, a Pitta-Rakta disorder due to excessive heat and inflammation.

Symptoms: 

  • Loose stools with mucus or blood
  • Burning in abdomen
  • Weakness and weight loss

Ayurvedic Management:

  • Pitta Shamana Herbs: Amalaki, Shatavari, Yashtimadhu, Lodhra.
  • Internal Medicines: Kutajavaleha, Pittashekhar Ras, Sandalwood, Praval Pishti.
  • Basti Therapy: Ksheera Basti with cooling herbs.
  • Diet: Porridge, buttermilk, pomegranate, coconut water.
