Ligament Tear (Snayubheda / Mamsa-Kshata)

Ligament tears are injuries affecting the connective tissue (Snayu) that stabilizes joints. Ayurveda attributes this to Vata aggravation and Mamsa-Kshata (muscle damage), often due to trauma, strain, or overexertion.

Symptoms: 

  • Sharp pain and swelling near the joint
  • Instability or restricted movement
  • Bruising or tenderness

Ayurvedic Management:

Focuses on tissue repair, inflammation control, and strengthening:

    • Abhyanga: Application of Murivenna or Karpuradi Thailam for healing.
    • Lepam: Herbal paste with Kumari, Manjishta, and Tulasi.
    • Pichu / Bandhana: Retaining oil or mild bandage for support.
    • Kizhi Therapies: Njavara Kizhi for nourishment and repair.
    • Internal Medicines: Laksha Guggulu, Ashwagandha Rasayana, Bala Taila for muscle and ligament strength.
