Vertigo

Vertigo is the sensation of spinning, imbalance, or dizziness often caused by inner ear disorders, nerve weakness, or blood circulation issues to the head.
In Ayurveda, it is referred to as Bhrama or Karna Roga, primarily resulting from Vata-Pitta vitiation affecting the head, ear, and nervous system.
When Vata disturbs balance and Pitta disturbs perception, the person experiences dizziness, nausea, and instability.

🔹 Common Causes (Nidāna):

  • Loss of balance and unsteadiness
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Headache or ear pressure

  • Nasya Therapy: Instillation of Anu Taila or Shadbindu Taila to clear channels and improve blood flow to the brain.
  • Shirodhara: Continuous flow of medicated oil (Brahmi Taila or Ksheerabala Taila) on forehead to calm Vata and Pitta.
  • Internal Medicines:
    • Brahmi Vati, Saraswatarishta, Ashwagandharishta, Tagara – for nerve and mind balance
    • Dashamoola Kwatha, Sukumara Ghrita – for Vata pacification
  • Diet & Lifestyle:
    • Avoid fasting, spicy food, or caffeine.
