Computer Vision Syndrome (Drishtimandya / Eye Strain)

Continuous screen exposure leads to eye strain, fatigue, and blurred vision, known in Ayurveda as Drishtimandya, caused by Vata-Pitta aggravation and Ruksha (drying) of ocular tissues.

Symptoms:

  • Eye strain and pain
  • Headache, dryness, burning
  • Blurred vision, double vision
  • Sleep disturbance

Ayurvedic Management:

  • Netra Tarpana: Medicated ghee therapy with Triphala Ghrita or Jeevantyadi Ghrita.
  • Shirodhara: With Ksheerabala Taila to relax nervous system.
  • Nasya: To improve ocular nourishment.
  • Herbal Supplements: Saptamrita Lauha, Brahmi Vati, Triphala Churna.
  • Eye Exercises & Palming: To relax ocular muscles.

Prevention:

  • Follow the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds)
