Indigestion / Dyspepsia (Ajeerna)

Ajeerna occurs when food remains undigested due to weakened digestive fire (Mandagni). It leads to heaviness, bloating, nausea, and discomfort after meals.

Types (based on dosha involvement)

  • Heaviness and fullness after meals
  • Belching, acidity, or nausea

  • Fatigue and coated tongue

Symptoms: 

  • Hard, dry stools
  • Abdominal distension
  • Headache or irritability

Ayurvedic Management:

  • Deepana & Pachana: Herbal carminatives like Hingu, Jeeraka, Trikatu, Chitraka.
  • Lepa / Ushna Jalapana: Warm water and light meals to rekindle Agni.
  • Internal Medicines: Hingvashtaka Choorna, Jeerakadyarishtam, Triphala Churna.
  • Lifestyle: Early dinner, avoid overeating, eat only when hungry.
