Uterine Fibroids (Garbhashaya Arbuda / Granthi)

Uterine fibroids are identified as Garbhashaya Arbuda (tumorous growths) or Granthi, caused by Kapha-Meda accumulation and Vata imbalance, leading to abnormal cell growth within the uterine wall.

Causes (Nidana):

  • Kapha-aggravating diet (heavy, oily, sweet food)
  • Hormonal imbalance, obesity
  • Chronic stress and sedentary lifestyle
  • Suppression of natural urges

Pathogenesis (Samprapti):

Accumulation of Kapha and Meda dhatus with vitiated Vata causes stagnation of menstrual flow and abnormal proliferation of uterine tissue, forming fibroids.

Symptoms (Lakshana):

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
  • Pelvic pain and pressure
  • Frequent urination or constipation
  • Infertility or recurrent miscarriage
