The word “Pichu” refers to a cotton pad or cloth soaked in medicated oil and applied to a specific area.
It is a Snigdha Upakrama (oleation therapy) that nourishes the Asthi (bone) and Majja Dhatus (marrow and nerve tissues). It primarily pacifies Vāta dosha localized in joints and spine.
A thick sterile cotton pad is soaked in warm medicated oil like Ksheerabala Taila, Dhanwantaram Taila, or Kottamchukkadi Taila. It is placed over the affected region (head, neck, back, knee, etc.) and re-warmed periodically for 30–45 minutes.
